Ristorante Orobianco: Calpe’s best Italian restaurant reopens with two new tasting menus

Ristorante Orobianco, overlooking the Mediterranean Sea and Penon Ifach, the iconic ‘Rock of the North,’  is the only Italian restaurant in Spain to hold a Michelin Star and a Repsol Sun, newly awarded in 2020. For more than three months, the restaurant has been closed due to the Covid-19 lock-down, but now it has reopened with two new, stunning tasting menus to choose from, featuring a combination of new dishes and the signature dishes for which the restaurant is so well known.


Orobianco’s Head Chef, Ferdinando Bernardi, learned to cook in Rimini, and was head of the pizzeria in his father’s restaurant by the age of 13. Since 2015, he has been at Orobianco. During the lock-down, the restaurant was responsible for supplying many meals to social kitchens, so these months have not exactly been restful for the owners and staff!


(R)Evolution Set Menu:





This menu consists of 7 courses for €75 per person, plus an optional wine pairing for €55 per person. If you are vegetarian, this option is available on request. You can also buy gift vouchers for a unique, caring present to a loved one. Or why not turn the dining experience into a break, and spend the night int Orobianco’s suite, for €260 per couple without drinks, or €370 per couple with drinks? Then you can relax on the beautiful La Azotea rooftop cocktail bar, and enjoy panoramic views without having to worry about driving.


Unico Set Menu:

Then spoil yourselves with this fabulous 9 course menu, priced at  €110 per person, and €90 for the optional wine pairing. Again, there are gift vouchers available for this menu, as well as the Orobianco Experience for that extra special occasion. Priced at €330 per couple without wine, or €510 with wine, this is an ideal post lock-down luxury treat for yourselves, or for a newly engaged or married couple.

The Cuisine:


Orobianco’s menus are based on Italian cuisine, cooked with locally sourced, fresh ingredients, and fish and seafood straight from the Mediterranean Sea.  Add to this the fusion of accents from Ferdinando’s travels in Thailand, the USA and Europe, and you have an exciting combination of authentic Italian with local and modern twists to surprise and delight Orobianco’s guests. There’s a new recipe risotto with Parmesan cheese, lemon and shrimps from Santa Pola, squid with pasta and mushrooms. Or try their signature lamb dish, and finish it all off with a special Cherry Passion dessert, created for you with passion by Ferdinando.


La Azotea:




Orobianco’s stunning rooftop terrace is the real jewel in the crown of this beautifully situated restaurant. And the good news is, you don’t need to dine in the restaurant to enjoy the fabulous views from the terrace. La Azotea is open for cocktails, or any other drinks you fancy, from 7.30 pm – 1.30 am, Thursday to Monday. Head up there for a different view of Calpe.
