BonAmb – Your Michelin starred restaurant in Javea

Spain Life Exclusive recently spoke to one of our favourite restaurants in Javea, BonAmb, a two Michelin starred, modern gastronomic experience like nothing you will have experienced before. BonAmb creates an atmosphere of luxurious decadence in a warm and friendly setting.




Alberto Ferruz – Head Chef of BonAmb


Chef, Alberto Ferruz, and partner Lammert Hoeve, have created a unique eating experience for the people of the area which makes the restaurant stand out from the crowd as one of the best restaurants in Javea. Not only has the establishment been awarded two Michelin stars, but also three Repsol suns, quite an accomplishment I’m sure you will agree.


Chef Alberto started working at BonAmb in his early 20s and has taken the restaurant from strength to strength in that time, being awarded their first Michelin star only two years after they opened. Alberto is a true perfectionist and his innovative ideas know no bounds when it comes to developing his menus and creating a spectacular gastronomic experience for his customers, always based on products from the region and never on the chemistry box. The second and possibly even more exciting Michelin star was awarded to Alberto and BonAmb in 2016, just 5 years after opening.


Alberto takes his foodie inspirations from the fresh, local Mediterranean produce that is available seasonally, he prides himself on being able to create both traditional and modern dishes depending on the situation. The BonAmb tasting menus are second to none and something that Alberto is extremely proud of, and rightly so. This restaurant in Javea is a force to be reckoned with.




The BonAmb Gastronomic Experience


Food at BonAmb is out of this world, if you haven’t had the pleasure then you’re missing a treat!  


Let’s talk about their world renowned tasting menus… the Llebeig Breath is the first on the list and is described as “Just like the sensation of a pleasant breeze, we propose a tour in a light and concise way.” This wonderful introduction to the BonAmb taste extravaganza consists of appetisers, 8 delightful plates of food and to end a “sweet moment”. You can add wine pairings to your meal if you so wish too.


Storm is the most extravagant of the tasting menus at BonAmb, it is described as “The winds in a storm are of maximum intensity. We offer a detailed, intense and frenetic experience.” With this menu you get your appetisers, 12 plates of amazing food and again a sweet moment. We would highly recommend going with a very empty stomach for this menu.



Why should you try BonAmb?


Because it’s an experience like no other, something you need to try then try again. Every detail has been thought about and perfected, and it’s not just about the food. The team at BonAmb are second to none, they make the experience a special one. The decor and layout are something really quite special, it’s like walking into a high end hotel, combined with a swish bodega. The indoor dining room is light and bright, decor is simple and stylish and the tables are set out so spaciously that it almost feels like you’re having your own private dining encounter. Outside feels like a luxury, palm tree lined resort with cool furniture and stunning views of the nearby Montgo mountain. It’s a rustic, contemporary fusion of style which makes for a spectacular atmosphere, combine that with some of the best food in Javea and you’re on to a winner.  


Another reason that people love BonAmb is that, although they have 2 Michelin stars, they want to keep it accessible for people with a smaller budget. For that reason they priced the basic menu at a very moderate level, a level hardly seen in restaurants with such prestige. BonAmb is a gastronomic restaurant focused on taste rather than portion sizes but you are guaranteed to leave feeling satisfied.




All in all BonAmb is a beautiful place to dine. If you have a special occasion coming up, or indeed you just want to spoil yourself a little, then we can’t recommend BonAmb highly enough.
