Between fine dining establishments like Bistro Selene restaurant and Bodegas Xaló, you’ll be spoiled for choice for activities upon your visit to Jalon Valley.
Today we wish to transport you to Jalon Valley, located on the Costa Blanca, situated between the towns of Javea and Calpe, north of the province of Alicante.
The picturesque Jalón Valley is set in a privileged location at Costa Blanca, just a few kilometres from the Mediterranean Sea. In fact, it is part of the Vall de Pop, a valley in the middle of nature that runs along the Gorgos River, also known as the Jalón River.
The river passes through the towns of Benichembla, Murla and Parcent until it reaches the charming village of Alcalalí, where the river widens, followed by the rural villages of Jalón and Llíber, and the historic town of Benissa.
Today we want to get lost in the Jalon Valley, located on the Costa Blanca, situated between the towns of Javea and Calpe, north of the province of Alicante. Possibly now in summer many of you will be approaching the beaches of this area. Although, if you are looking for a quieter place and not far from the sea, this rural corner is enviable.
You can reach Alicante on any of your flights. The Jalon Valley is surrounded by vineyards and magnificent mountains. Hotels and small rural tourism cottages, old country houses, are some of the most traditional accommodations that can be found.
This enclave is perfect for those who are looking for tranquillity as well as for those who like to practice different outdoor sports. Here come lovers of hiking, golf, fishing, mountain biking, water sports on the coast and even, why not, small artists to draw the magnificent landscapes of the area.
Among the best hiking areas are the Barranco del Infierno, the Montgó Park near Jávea, the mountains of Coll de Rates, the waterfalls of Algar and the limestone mountains of Marina Alta. To visit picturesque villages I especially recommend Llíber, Guadalest, Orba, Alcalali, Parcent and Jalón, which gives its name to the valley, famous for its honey, ham and local wineries.
But possibly what the Jalon Valley is best known for is being a great base for visiting places like the coastal towns of Javea, Altea, Denia and Moraira. All of them are very touristic, with great beaches and small isolated and unspoiled coves, as well as having a unique animation.
Denia
And while you are here, why not plan a visit to the theme park Terra Mitica, Aqualandia, Mundomar or the Vergel Safari Park? As it makes for a fantastic way to spend the day with little ones.
The Jalón Valley is one of the most interesting natural enclaves of the Spanish Levante. Its excellent table wines, especially mistela, its rural tourism and the proximity of the Costa Blanca make it an exceptional destination for those seeking tranquillity and adventure, for those who want to be close to the beach and the mountains.
The Mediterranean coast is just a stone’s throw away, a succession of hidden coves and dream beaches.
Suddenly we find ourselves at La Marina Alta, a region in the southeast of Spain that shows a landscape of contrasts; mountain and forest, rivers, streams and wadis, valleys covered with vineyards, and a coastline with steep cliffs, hidden coves and beautiful sandy beaches.
Discover these quiet villages with traditional houses, their whitewashed facades, silhouettes of churches under a blue sky, where the vines envelop the reddish earth, a field of green pine forests, wildflowers, aromatic herbs and, at the beginning of the year, the beautiful panorama of almond trees in bloom.
