The Background to Physioplus

Paul Espe, the owner of Physioplus, was born in Norway and knew from an early age that he wanted to be a physiotherapist. With a keen interest in sports he was accepted by the prestigious King’s College in London in 1993 and graduated in 1997 (Batchelor with Honours degree). After a year working in Norway Paul headed back to the UK where he worked as a locum physio, mainly in NHS hospitals. He then spent 9 years at a private clinic in Poole, Dorset and worked with UK Athletics, AFC Bournemouth, The Windsurfing World Cup, the Royal Marines, semi-pro golfers, powerlifters and more. Paul undertook a myriad of different manual therapy techniques, sports injuries seminars, golf-specific therapies, acupuncture, kinesiotaping, IASTM an ergonomics to name but a few.

After living with his wife in Norway for 9 years and opening a physiotherapy clinic there, the couple moved to Spain permanently in 2014. Paul took a job at a clinic where he spent 4,5 years. In 2018 he found the perfect facilities to start up on his own clinic in the centre of Albir . Theses premises were large enough to have several treatment rooms, a gym and to install a state-of-the-art indoor golf simulator. This can be used as a tool to analyse a golfer’s technique, as well as practice to improve their swing, and reduce pain and prevent future problems.

Once the facilities were renovated completely, Paul turned his attention to launching Physioplus and building a strong team of skilled and dedicated individuals, who are ready to give the very best possible care and treatment to their clients. The feedback that Paul has received so far is testament both to him, his team and the first-class facilities he has at his disposal.

Paul works with ‘Active Release Techniques’- ARTⓇ, He has done numerous ART courses since 2009 to master his techniques, which have led to him becoming an international certified instructor. Today, along with six other instructors, he is now responsible for training other physiotherapists, chiropractors and osteopaths all over Europe.
