Exclusive furniture from Harris Furnishings

When it comes to buying furniture there are so many options to choose from these days, but if you are looking for exclusive, high quality and durable furniture, your choices can be limited, Spain Life have the solution. We have recently come across  a unique business here on the Costa Blanca that ticks all the boxes; we would like to present to you an excellent couple,  David and Jayne Harris,  who have each been in the furniture business for over 30 years and  have recently relocated and expanded their highly successful re-upholstery business to include a very impressive retail furniture showroom in Pedreguer, Alicante.

The daughter of an upholsterer, Jayne grew up helping her father make buttons in his upholstery workshop, later working a Saturday job in his first modest furniture retail shop before ultimately ending up as general manager of the highly successful family business years later. Jayne and David met when they were both in their teens, with David joining the family business at the age of twenty to learn the upholstery trade from Jayne’s father, like Jayne working his way through the ranks of the family business over a period of 17 years.

When the couple relocated to Spain in 2004, they employed the skills learnt in Jayne’s family business to embark on their own re-upholstery business, setting up Sofa Medico in Gata de Gorgos. Having then gained an excellent reputation as upholstery specialists over the past decade, David and Jayne, almost 3 years ago now, decided to expand their business and opened Harris Furnishings in Pedreguer. Their impressive new premises allow them to stock a wide range of furniture as well as continue their reputable re-upholstery, repair and cleaning service in the onsite workshop.

With almost sixty years’ experience between them, David and Jayne are extremely knowledgeable about both the furniture retail and re-upholstery trade. They use that knowledge to fill their showroom with beautiful, quality furniture meaning their customers can be assured they are buying nothing less than well-built furniture upholstered in high quality fabrics or top-grain Italian leathers. They are always happy to answer any questions or offer advice to their customers, helping them through the often-daunting process of selecting the perfect chair or sofa for them, but above all else, David and Jayne pride themselves on their “old fashioned” approach to customer service, going over and above to ensure their customers are 100% happy, not only at the point of delivery but way beyond. Customer satisfaction is paramount to success in business and their track record is testament to that.

“We are passionate not just about selling furniture, but also about ensuring our customers are happy.” says Jayne. The passion and enthusiasm comes across as soon as you enter the showroom and engage with them.

Continuing in her father’s footsteps, Jayne and David have built a reputable family business of their own over the past fourteen years and are very proud that both their daughter Emily and son James are now onboard too. Emily will be starting in January, but James has been there 2 years already learning the re-upholstery trade from his father and helping with deliveries.

Selling a unique selection of English and Spanish furniture including sofas, chairs, recliners, rise-recliners and most recently beds, Harris Furnishings offer ranges of furniture that are not available traditionally in Spanish stores. With ranges from well-known suppliers like La-Z-Boy, Losbu, The Libra Company, Regency Recliners, J.H. Classics and Furmanac, as well as being the exclusive stockists of Parker Knoll in Spain, they cater to a primarily ex-pat clientele who expect quality and craftmanship as standard.
