For Vicente Gracia, jewellery is not just something he designs and sells. He puts his heart and soul into creating pieces that express the beauty and diversity of the different cultures that surround the Mediterranean Sea, and have created enduring influences in Spain, and in particular, his home city of Valencia. By creating something beautiful and timeless, we bring joy to those who look on it, thereby tapping into the unity of the Universe, and the Earth that yields the materials of creation.
Vicente Gracia talks openly about the divine connection he sees in his work, and, since the Covid-19 outbreak, he has found a way to give something back to those who have lost so much. Vicente and three other well-known exclusive jewellery designers – Hannah Martin, Gogo Ferguson and Hannah Carnegie – have formed the Shine On Collective. It’s a charitable collaboration that donates 20 per cent of all its online sales to UNICEF USA, which has been helping vulnerable children and adolescents throughout the world for more than 70 years.
In these challenging times, when the world is uniting to face a common enemy, Vicente and the other members of the collective feel it’s important to give something back to the global community, while at the same time bringing much-needed joy into the lives of everyone. And what better way to do that than by creating something beautiful which will endure long after Covid-19 is a distant memory, recorded in history lest we forget.
A piece of jewellery can accompany us through life, and through good times and bad, and trigger memories and emotions every time it is worn. The raw materials which make up jewellery were here on Earth long before we were, and they will still be here long after we leave it. Through the Shine On Collective, these designers are sending a message that when Man and the Universe are in harmony, nothing can defeat them. At the same time, there is the practical element of donating funds so that UNICEF USA can do more and more life-changing and life-saving work in the countries where aid is most needed.
Jewellery can bridge cultures, soothe the soul, and make one pause to drink in the beauty that is all around us, and is brought into sharp focus by the magical skills of passionate, energetic designers. Vicente Gracia and his Shine On Collective colleagues see past the commercial value of their creations, into the eternal and universal meaning their pieces hold for those who view them. Life may be difficult right now, but we owe it to ourselves and our loved ones to get the best from every day, and find joy in the beauty around us. And if we can help the next generation as we appreciate the artistry of some of the best jewellery designers in the world, then we are doubly blessed.
Check out Vicente Gracia’s store or view the pieces online, admire the sheer beauty of the creations, and know that when you purchase a Vicente Gracia piece, you are helping children the world over to deal with this pandemic and Shine On into the future.
