Nestled along the picturesque shores of Costa Blanca, the charming coastal town of Jávea (or Xàbia, in Valencian) boasts a rare gem of a dining destination: La Perla Restaurant. Since opening its doors in 1984, this fine dining establishment has been delighting taste buds with its exquisite cuisine and authentic flavors of the Mediterranean.
La Perla’s menu features Mediterranean specialties with a twist, showcasing locally-sourced, fresh ingredients from Jávea’s local market. Diners can choose from a wide selection of entrees, rice dishes, noodles, fish, and meats, with standout dishes such as the flavorful paella, fideua noodles, and juicy lobster. And for those with a sweet tooth, the Homemade Tarte Tartin With Vanilla Ice Cream or the Chocolate Cake With Cream are not to be missed.
You can opt to dine by the light of the moon as it sets over the Mediterranean, surrounded by the sounds of the waves and breathtaking views of the ocean. The restaurant’s wine bar, with over 125 carefully selected wines, provides the perfect accompaniment to the delectable dishes on the menu.
As a winter night falls and the moon rises, La Perla is the perfect escape for those seeking a lavish dining experience. The warm and welcoming staff greets you with a smile, making you feel right at home. Seated in the restaurant’s cozy, intimate setting, surrounded by beautiful lighting, you are presented with a menu that will leave you spoilt for choice.
To start, a nice cava aperitif sets the tone for the meal ahead, while the knowledgeable staff offers expert advice on the best dishes and wine pairings. With so many delicious options to choose from, making a decision was tough. The first course alone was enough to leave us smitten with La Perla. After studying the menu, we started with the mussels in white wine sauce, and my wife was blown away. The mussels were beautifully presented and had a lovely size and texture. They were complimented by the lovely baked bread, and the garlic sauce added the perfect finishing touch.
For me, the garlic prawns were a clear choice. As a lover of seafood, I was delighted by the tenderness and taste of the large prawns, and the garlic sauce was exceptional. It had a unique combination of flavors that made it truly unforgettable. The wine choice also played a crucial role in enhancing the taste of the dishes. The waiter’s recommendation of a white Finca la colina sauvignon blanc was spot on. It had a lovely, delicate taste that perfectly complemented the fish dishes.
For the main course, we both opted for the fish dishes. The Lubina and San Pedro, a special dish similar to sole, providing a perfect showcase of the restaurant’s culinary prowess. The Lubina is a soft and flaky white fish, complemented by crisp and perfectly cooked vegetables, while the San Pedro is cooked to perfection and will have you coming back for more. As the night progresses, the atmosphere in the restaurant builds, with the lovely lighting and stunning night sky outside creating a truly magical experience.
The unique atmosphere of the restaurant created by the stunning lighting, the moonlit ocean views, and the impeccable service made for a truly special night. By 9 pm, the restaurant was filling up, and the ambiance was magical.
La Perla Restaurant is the place to visit for seafood lovers and romantics alike. The staff will make you feel welcome immediately, and the dishes will leave you wanting more. Don’t hesitate to add this to your dining out list, especially on an autumn or winter evening. You won’t be disappointed. So, close your eyes, surrender to the pleasure of biting, and experience the Pearl of Jávea.
