We have less and less time to cook, but we also like to eat better. Healthier food, more elaborate dishes, different flavors. That is one of the reasons why culinary fairs are sweeping throughout Spain. As ambassadors of the Mediterranean diet, Spanish chefs shine at these events. Now it is the turn of the Alicante Gastrónomica fair, which starts tomorrow.
From Friday 22 to Monday 25 February the Alicante Gastronómica fair is held at the Alicante Trade Fair Institution (IFA). The event is organized by the Chamber of Commerce of Alicante with the support of the Provincial Council of Alicante and the Ministry of Tourism. In addition, it will have the presence of 150 exhibitors and several great chefs with Michelin Star of the province. Thus, Quique Dacosta, the chef of the restaurant Quique Dacosta awarded with 3 Michelin Stars (1 Rascassa Street, in Denia), will go on Sunday 24th with his sommelier, José Antonio Navarrete, to make the presentation “Harmonies of proximity. Harmonies by history”, focused on the local wines.
The City Council of Alicante will go for the first time to the fair and will have a stand of 80 square meters. From here they will be dedicated to promoting Alicante’s gastronomy and its restaurants of reference. For this they will offer free tastings of rice, meat, salted fish, tapas and fruits. Among the dishes that can be tasted include the mellow rice of oxtail or the rice of mantis shrimp, monkfish and artichokes.
Lectures, activities and various didactic workshops will be given. One of the most interesting worshop will be about improving the eating habits of children and adolescents. In addition, in the tasting room you can taste different coffees and wines, as well as learn to taste with Aseca (Association of Sommeliers and Winemakers of Alicante). Monday will be dedicated to gastronomy professionals. You can now consult the entire program of the Alicante Gastronómica fair to not miss one of its interesting proposals.
