A Spanish company have announced that they will be launching its first reduced-fat avocado. Isla Bonita claim that the Avacado Light has up to 30% less fat.
The launch is due to take place later this month at a trade fair in Madrid.
But how does it work? The avocados are grown under special conditions, adjusting the soil and climate to give the same nutritional benefits but with less fat. The company also say that it ripens faster and oxidises slower.
A large avocado contains about 330 calories which is just under one fifth of the daily recommended intake for an average woman. The new low fat version could improve the market place even more, with avocados already being a massive hit in the food market.
