With a plethora of new activities, facilities, and academic programs being added to the curriculum, we couldn’t think of a better time to enroll your child at Sotogrande International School for the incoming 2022-2023 school year.
Sotogrande International School is an International Baccalaureate school and boarding school with students from over 40 countries. Located in a beautiful residential area, considered one of the most beautiful on the Costa del Sol for its lush vegetation, picturesque marina and attractive coastline, Sotogrande International School and residence offers the International Baccalaureate program for 3 to 18 years old. In addition, this year incorporates education for Early Years (from 8 months to 3 years) in an incredible space that has outdoor areas and areas to promote the creative, social and psychomotor skills of the youngest children.
It has a unique space called the “Early Years” classrooms, where children have safe, comfortable and warm areas that invite them to explore, discover and learn through play. This includes an extensive outdoor area, where children not only enjoy nature and the environment but also learn and develop all kinds of psychomotor, social and emotional skills.
It also serves as a centre that works in partnership with sports academies to offer an exclusive program that combines the high academic and sports demands faced by young and talented athletes. The Elite Sports program is specially designed for students who excel in Golf, Tennis, Basketball, Swimming and Polo, supporting student-athletes so they can also focus on their studies and helping them which universities to go to further excel in their chosen disciplines.
Sotogrande International School has been the first school in Spain to be accredited as an Apple Distinguished School. This designation is awarded to schools that meet the criteria for innovation, leadership and educational excellence and demonstrate a clear vision of exemplary learning environments. The school has implemented a 1-to-1 iPad program in primary, which allows younger students to explore technology and choose different ways to capture their learning, and a 1-to-1 MacBook program in secondary, which allows them to further develop their skills and learn about industry-level programs across the curriculum.
An Apple Distinguised School, SIS also understands the importance of the ever-evolving digital world. The school embraces the creative use of technology in the classroom and encourages the creative use of technology in the classroom so that students develop the skills to think critically and independently.
New Facilities this Year
We’re excited to reveal that SIS is going to be installing new facilities for its students. The school has an excellent boarding programme, and it has created a new boarding house called “Templeton House”.
Much more than a school, SIS Boarding strives to create a warm and vibrant learning community that creates a thriving learning environment for international students all with unique backgrounds, learning styles, and individual gifts.
Due to popular demand, the original boarding school was already full by last April, so it decided to extend its contract with its existing facility, and as a result, there are now two boarding houses.
New Templeton House
There will also be exclusive border access to a chiringuito and pool during the evenings for students to relax.
For student-athletes, they’ll be pleased to learn that the running track is going to be resurfaced this year. In terms of new academic programmes, Mandarin is going to be added to the M1 electives, and there is going to be a new skating club set up among the extracurricular activities.
