This restaurant run by Eloy and his wife Celia has been there now for over 28 years and when you first approach it you cannot but be amazed at the incredible views it has across the Mediterranean ocean as you are higher up in the hills so it gives you these fantastic views that stretch to actually looking as far as the coast of Ibiza.
As you enter immediately you see the large vast swimming pool area with carefully arranged outdoor tables set up for lunch and dinner as well so this gives you a nice choice of indoor and outdoor dining and overall whichever you choose is the perfect setting for a nice experience.
As it was lunchtime when my wife and I visited recently we decided to go inside as it was a food review and we wanted to see the level of service and quality and also experience how the other diners enjoyed their time there so we were warmly welcomed by Eloy and Celia and took our seats with a wonderful view of the ocean from all sides of the restaurant.
These panoramic views allow you to feel comfortable and relaxed and so we set about choosing the starters of the main menu and also the Menu del dia which is excellent in its choices and cost.
My wife Karen chose the wine first to compliment it all and it was a nice Vino Blanco called Marques Turia and we were pleased we chose this as it went well with all the dishes we had served to us.
STARTERS
On the Menu del dia Karen chose a fantastic 5 tapas dish which came with Shrimp brioche- Chick peas falafel- Camembert cheese – Mackerel with cous cous in a mint sauce and all of these were simply marvelous and delicious all round and an excellent idea.
Myself I had off the main menu the Boquerones served on a traditional fish and chip type paper and these were soft and tender and overall just lovely white fish that was enjoyed immensely.
MAIN COURSES
This was where the choices proved to be a masterstroke as recommended was the Dorada in salt and so as I felt it would be good to stick to fish dishes that day I ordered this and wow I’m glad I did.
It came out on a serving trolley with the fish covered in this salt that was then carefully cut off and the Dorada was divided into pieces that were then served on your plate beautifully and just watching the delicate way this was created and presented made you not want to eat it so lovely was its presentation.
This Dorada came with a lovely selection of vegetables and overall this was one of the best dishes I have ever tasted my hat goes off to the chef as this was simply wonderful in taste as well.
My wife Karen as part of the Menu del dia chose the leg of lamb and it came in a lovely sauce with potatoes- tomato- and peppers it was beautifully cooked and fell off the bone it was so tender and she would highly recommend this dish to anyone.
DESSERTS
This again as part of the menu of the day had great choices but Karen had to decide on one and so went for the Lemon Meringue this had a lovely crispy biscuit base with a nice tarty meringue flavour and was lovely all round.
My choice was the Apple pie with an unusual Apricot sauce and this idea to put the two tastes together was ingenious as it was excellent in texture and taste.
Overall the food is superb here at La Cumbre and with its magnificent views and service, it is a truly lovely place to enjoy an excellent lunch or a great dining experience in the evening with friends and family if you have not been up to La Cumbre as an area very much then we suggest you do and visit this Restaurante as the owners have made this a wonderful experience and its regular customers will bear testimony to this and its overall menu caters for everyone with a high-quality cuisine you will want to try again and again.
