Last week we had the amazing opportunity to attend this wonderful restaurant called La Plume set in the hills of the Costa Blanca just outside La Nucia town on the main road from La Nucia to Altea. The first thing you notice is the vast parking area and the lovely setting of trees and outdoor space, making it immediately a lovely place to visit.
The views are breathtaking as you get to see the Altea hills and a glimpse of the sea in the distance. We were welcomed to a cozy terrace, perfect for the warm evening outside, and the four of us were delighted to look to choose an exquisite array of dishes.
From the first impression, the service was excellent as they greeted us with a lovely smile and a great attitude as they sat us down. Alma, the owner, was always friendly, and polite and gave out her best advice on wine pairings and her cuisine all throughout the night.
She recommended at first a white Sauvignon Blanc that was spot on as three bottles were had over the course of the night. The food was simply delicious and complimented the wine perfectly.
DISHES.
As there were four of us we all decided to try something different, which ended up being a great decision. We definitely had food envy some of the time but most of all we all enjoyed our choices. We would all recommend the dishes we had chosen.
STARTERS
Our friend Shelagh decided on the Tuna Tartare, which was beautifully presented. She described it as flavorsome, tasty and refreshing, so total thumbs up on this one.
Peter her husband had the exquisite Prawns in Garlic, which were no ordinary prawns, they were large succulent and were served with bread to go alongside. These were extremely delicious -tender and the perfect size and quantity.
My wife Karen chose a different starter: the Tuna Tacos. The presentation of these was beautiful and she mentioned that not only were they delicious but felt extremely fresh.
As I wanted to try something different settled on the Veal. The portion was perfect for a starter and this too was fresh and tasty and beautifully presented.
MAIN COURSES.
When it came to the main courses we all agreed to order different dishes once again to see everything the restaurant had to offer.
Shelagh, a lover of risotto, decided to order the lobster risotto. It came in a clever presentation, a great taste and very satisfying according to her and she was pleased she ordered it.
After being advised by Alma, Peter went for a man’s dish and chose the Pork Knuckle, which came with an incredibly flavorsome special gravy. The meat was so tender it simply fell off the bone, making every mouthful into an experience. The portion was large and satisfying. He liked it so much that he stated he would be coming back just for this dish. Easy to say Alma made the right choice for him.
Karen was delighted with her meal as well. Despite choosing a dish she normally wouldn’t have ordered she was astonished by the flavor. She went with the beef tenderloin, which she described as divine. She enjoyed it so much there was nothing left of it at the end and normally she cannot eat her full main course.
My choice of the main course was the Spaghetti ai Frutti del mare. Which was filled with mussels, calamari, and other fish portions inside the perfectly cooked Spaghetti and it was delicious and the sauce complimented it greatly, overall a great choice.
There were times when all of us looked at the other person’s meals and we couldn’t help but mention how beautiful the presentation was and how good it looked. We all took note of the next dishes we wished to try on our next visit.
The evening concluded in the best of ways… with dessert. We chose to share and ordered homemade apple pie, two chocolate souffles tiramisus, and cheesecake. The apple pie had cinnamon infused in the crust, which gave it a lovely aromatic touch. As for the cheesecake, it had been Alma’s recommendation for Peter. Once more she wasn’t wrong, the cheesecake had the perfect crispy biscuit base, and was thoroughly enjoyed by all of us.
All we can say is that we recommend trying all the different dishes The Plume has to offer. It is evident that the menus have been well thought out as every dish was enjoyable. Everyone at the table was satisfied.
It was a lovely evening and we owe it to the great selection of wine, the amazing food, and the flawless service. We highly recommend visiting La Plume at night as the views and sunsets are a great asset. The place is perfect for couples looking for a romantic experience, friends, and even families with children.
Lastly, we highly recommend asking for Alma as she is the perfect host and with her staff, they will make your dining experience a great one.
