There are plenty of places to eat in Benidorm, catering for all tastes and budgets. The atmospheric Old Town is home to some excellent tapas bars, and it’s also where you’ll find two of Benidorm’s finest restaurants.
For the best gastronomic experience in Benidorm, there are only two places to go: ConBrassa and La Falua. As Spain enters Phase Three of the exit from lock-down due to the Covid-19 outbreak and there is more freedom of movement, it’s time to celebrate – while socially distanced of course!
From 22 June, Benidorm will welcome tourists from the European Union for the first time since March. We tend to think of the resort as a ‘cheap and cheerful’ place where you can get as much as you want, washed down with cheap wine, for €10. Yes, you can do that if you want to, of course, but there is much more to Benidorm that fish and chips and full English breakfasts.
Here at Spain Life Exclusive, we appreciate the best in food and wine, so let’s introduce you to our two favourite restaurants in Benidorm. They are now open, and waiting to welcome you to sample their stunning and innovative menus. And of course, both restaurants are fully compliant with current government directives on social distancing and public health and safety, so you can enjoy your dining experience in comfort and safety.
This is the first in a series of features showcasing the best in gastronomy in the Northern Costa Blanca.
Situated in a prime position on the seafront at Poniente Beach, ConBrassa is deservedly described as ‘The best restaurant in Benidorm’ by its many regular customers, and also those who arrive for the first time, by accident or recommendation. A restaurant that can feed a party of 10 with steaks, each one perfectly cooked, and serve them up without a long wait definitely has something special going for it.
At ConBrassa, it’s owner chef Licinio, who describes his particular form of gastronomy as:
Back to my roots Mediterranean cooking, grilled meats, rice and seafood.
ConBrassa is special because of its attention to detail. Quality comes before everything, so Licinio deals with local suppliers he knows and trusts, having worked with them for many years. In their turn, they know what he expects, and are able to provide him with high quality, fresh ingredients that just need a little seasoning to bring out the best flavours.
There’s nothing better than looking across the Mediterranean Sea from your table, as you enjoy a perfectly cooked fish that was in the sea itself not so many hours ago. Pair it with the right wine, attentive service and a happy, friendly ambiance that is typically Spanish, even in the heart of Benidorm, and you have the recipe for a successful gastronomic sensation you will remember for a long time. Every time you smell the sea, it will remind you of your fabulous meal at ConBrassa.

La Falua is Spanish for ‘the barge,’ and this luxurious restaurant, specialising in modern Mediterranean and international gastronomy, has been established in Benidorm since 2007. Situated in Benidorm Old Town, just one street back from the seafront, it also has a stylish cocktail bar above the restaurant, where you can enjoy drinks, canapés and bar meals if you don’t want to go for the full dining experience. Or just make your way up there to relax after your meal and enjoy the ambience of the Old Town from La Falua’s terrace.
Chef Maria Theresa is adventurous in her approach to presenting food and trying out new combinations of flavours. Try local red Denia shrimps for starters, then move on to a rice dish with a difference, such as tuna rice with artichokes and beans. See what we mean about different combinations?
As with most Mediterranean restaurants, the emphasis is on grilled meats, fish and seafood, and we can recommend the Chateaubriand steak if your tastes are more towards the traditional. Whatever you order in La Falua, you will enjoy it in sophisticated surroundings, with attentive service from the team, who are knowledgeable and passionate about food and wine. Ask one of the waiters to recommend a locally produced, quality wine to accompany your meal, and as La Falua has an open cellar, you can even take some away with you to remind you of your unique gastronomic experience at one of Benidorm’s best restaurants.
