On 13 March, 2020 – the day the Spanish government declared a State of Alarm which resulted in a shutdown of all restaurants and bars – Hogarguti hosted a show cooking event in its Javea showroom. This event was to demonstrate the versatility of RAK cooking appliances, and all the food was cooked in front of the waiting diners. An exquisite menu for more than 20 guests was created and cooked by Hamid Megrini, chef in residence at Restaurante Masena in Javea for the past 12 years.
Little did Hamid or his appreciative diners know that this would be one of the final social occasions for fine dining for some time. That’s just as well, as the knowledge would have spoiled enjoyment of Hamid’s wonderful food for those fortunate enough to sample it. Hamid is a top-rated chef with more than 20 years experience, and his speciality is to fuse the fabulous flavours of the Mediterranean to create original dining experiences in which each taste is an adventure for the senses.
At the Hogarguti event, Hamid served a varied menu, including a tomato cream soup, quail salad with an exotic crumble, octopus with croutons of ham and olives and ox tail in a rich sauce. This is just a small sample of the fabulous menu which will be available to returning and new customers when Restaurante Masena is finally able to welcome guests again.
The restaurant is set in beautiful surroundings, where you can relax and enjoy Mediterranean, regional and national specialities. Whether it’s one of their fabulous steaks, ribs or lamb legs, a fish dish or Masena’s legendary lobster and rice, there’s plenty to choose from.
Children can share the fine dining with you, as there is a special menu of steak, chicken breast or spaghetti Bolognese. With vegetarians, vegans and special diets also catered for, there’s something to satisfy pretty much all tastes and preferences.
There are some interesting combinations among the starters, such as quail salad with a mango crumble, prawns with pineapple and coconut. And lobster, prawns and avocado salad with mango and a honey and mustard sauce.
For something really special, try a chateaubriand steak cooked on a hot stone. The cooking method rapidly seals in the meat juices, resulting in a really succulent steak with a taste all its own.
Front of house manager Valentin has more than 30 years of experience in choosing fine wines to accompany your meal, making it a total adventure for the senses. Dine inside or outside, depending on your personal preference, in naturally beautiful surroundings. This is an experience not to be missed, when the lock-down lifts and we can all get back to enjoying life in Spain. ¡ Buen provecho a todos!
