The European women’s golf circuit will make a stop in Spain next July at La Sella Golf (Denia, Alicante) for the La Sella Open. The tournament will feature the participation of the top professional players and will offer the largest prize money in Spain with a purse of 1,000,000 euros.
From July 20th to 23rd, 2023, La Sella will be the center of professional golf news with the celebration of the La Sella Open. The tournament will serve as a test for the best players of the LET to define the European team that will compete in this year’s Solheim Cup, and will also be an opportunity for the best golfers on the circuit to shine on one of the most prestigious courses in the Mediterranean.
The program will begin on July 18th with the official tournament opening dinner and continue on July 19th with a ProAm in which three amateur players and one professional will participate. This will be the prelude to four days of official competition where luxury participation is expected, with more than one hundred of the best golfers in the world.
The event will be broadcast internationally by the major television networks in the world.
The celebration of this tournament reaffirms the importance of La Sella Golf in the golf scene of our country, as well as its unconditional support for women’s sports, consolidating itself as the host of some of the most important international women’s golf events.
A challenging and sustainable course
La Sella Golf has been chosen by the Ladies European Tour for the suitability of its facilities and for its exceptional technical quality and unmatched scenic beauty.
Designed by José María Olazábal, the course is located in an exceptional natural environment, the Montgó Natural Park, and has 27 holes, which makes it the largest course on the Costa Blanca and one of the reference routes within the Valencian Community and Spain. Recently, La Sella Golf has undertaken an ambitious renovation of the course, which has provided new, more technologically advanced, sustainable, and competitive facilities, which have increased La Sella’s already recognized reputation within Spanish and European golf.
The course presents three 9-hole routes of undeniable scenic beauty, where you can practice golf all year round. The routes run through a high density of pines, flat terrain with water in play and demanding finishes designed to decide the rounds; as well as holes in elevated areas that offer spectacular views of the sea, the Segaria mountain, and the Montgó Natural Park.
The facilities are completed with a wide practice field, two approach greens, two putting greens, the training center, and the clubhouse with a restaurant and pro shop.
