One of the best British schools on the Costa Blanca namely Elian’s is located in an idyllic mountain setting with panoramic views over the Mediterranean, not only has it an impressive location and excellent educational model but it also has fantastic sports facilities along with a sports program for all its students that makes clear the importance of physical education in the curriculum of our children nowadays.
The importance of PE in the curriculum
In this context, Elian’s School points out Physical Education (PE) is ideally placed to support children’s all-around development. As well as developing physical skills, PE teaches children intellectual skills, helps them navigate complex social situations, and nurtures their emotional development. However, these wide-ranging benefits are often overlooked, and PE is regularly underutilized as an educational tool.
Elian’s School prioritizes PE in its curriculum and believes that practicing sport from childhood helps personal and social development, strengthens skills, reinforces healthy and social habits and helps children’s wellbeing. PE encourages pupils to be creative, solve problems, and plan for the future. By working together, pupils can address physical and intellectual challenges while learning to communicate and manage risk and conflict.
At recess, outside of class, during the weekend… Whatever the time, Elian’s School fully supports physical exercise in its curriculum due to the positive effects that It has beyond our physical well-being. It also helps to improve self-esteem and the learning of positive and necessary values such as cooperation and collaboration over individualism. The promotion of gender equality can also be done through sport, as well as the transmission of values of coexistence and self-improvement.
The sports they offer
Sports at Elian’s School is always exciting, fun and engaging and is felt throughout the school, bringing both physical and mental wellbeing to their students and staff. Their sports and physical education program is supported by excellent sports facilities.
Outdoor play areas are large and separated into areas for specific age groups. Each area has age-appropriate play equipment, easy access to toilet and hand-washing facilities, and shaded areas for pupils to choose how they wish to spend their playtime.
Their sports facilities include a full-size astroturf football field, three tennis, and basketball courts and a swimming pool, plus purpose-built changing facilities. They also have a room dedicated to their popular taekwondo club and full-size table tennis tables, for indoor and outdoor play. These facilities enable the students to develop skills in all areas and adopt a healthier lifestyle.
Also noteworthy is that they have just signed an agreement with the CV Finestrat by which the volleyball club will be responsible for the development of extracurricular volleyball activities of the school both on court and on the beach. And there are many benefits of practicing this sport. Playing volleyball is an indulgence that you can allow your kids to have, without any guilt, since it is about the best form of physical activity that they can be involved in.
When it comes to the advantages of volleyball for kids, this sport gives them a terrific workout for their upper-arm muscles as well as their stomach muscles. It also improves vertical leap and tones the leg muscles. Volleyball has the overall impact of giving a youngster a healthy body with higher muscle mass and less fat formation. This prevents the child from becoming obese during his adolescent years. The sport also improves the participants’ flexibility and endurance. The activity is intended to start the upcoming year.
On the other hand, it is also worth mentioning the agreement they have had for several years with ATF to offer the best option to those students who decide to integrate high-performance sports and their academic training in order to be able to access university with guarantees of success.
ATF students are an example of discipline, effort and daily courage, as well as high-performance students, are the active engine of the existence of this essential project that is part of the school’s educational model.
A total of 13 students from Elian’s are already part of this agreement, through which they receive a complete education that combines sports training and classes in our center.
The students train from 08:00 – 10:15. Afterward, they move to the center where they receive classes and have lunch and from 15:30 to 18:30 they return to receive tennis training at ATF. In addition, three days a week they receive additional support classes from 19:00 to 21:00 in case they need it.
If you’re looking for a new school for your child on the Costa Blanca that thinks differently about how sport and PE in the school should be prioritized and the value it can provide to children, then Elian’s School is an option you need to look at today.
