Whether you’re in need of aesthetic or reconstructive surgery, you can feel assured that Dr Jose Salvador and his expert team will take care of you every step of the way.

Dr Jose Salvador

For those of you that don’t know, plastic surgery is divided into aesthetic and reconstructive. Reconstructive or reconstructive plastic surgery is performed after burns, accidents such as reconstructing the nose, orbital cavities or ears,  and after tumours, whether skin or breast.

Nowadays, breast reconstruction after mastectomy can be done in a very aesthetic way. There are multiple techniques available and one should start from the simplest to the most complex. It should not be forgotten that reconstructive surgery is a part of cosmetic surgery and the ultimate goal is the most aesthetic reconstructions possible.

At Spain Life Exclusive, we’re pleased to be able to present to you an Alicante surgeon who specialises in both of these delicate practices, located in Alicante and Torrevieja.

Dr Jose Salvador and his team specialise in the most advanced treatments and techniques in Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery.

These breast augmentation and reduction, breast reconstruction, secondary breast surgery, and gynecomastia. In addition to rhinoplasty, otoplasty, blepharoplasty or facelift, as well as liposuction, arm and thigh lift, abdominoplasty, buttock and calf augmentation.

Types of Reconstructive Surgery

Skin grafts

The surgeon transplants skin to a new location in or on the body. The transplanted skin graft does not have its own blood supply. This means that new blood vessels must grow.

Local flap surgery

Local flap surgery uses nearby body tissue to cover the area affected by the cancer surgery. The surgeon does not disconnect the tissue from the body or the blood supply but moves it while it is still attached to the nearby area.

Regional flap surgery

In regional flap surgery, the head and neck surgeon mobilises tissue around the surgical site, such as chest muscle or shoulder skin, to reconstruct damaged areas.

How to decide on what type of reconstructive surgery?

You can feel assured that Dr Jose Salvador and his team will advise you on all the options. The type of reconstructive surgery that’s right for you depends on several factors:

  • The location and severity of the damage
  • Previous surgeries
  • Your personal preferences
  • Need for additional cancer treatment
  • Your general health and other medical conditions
  • Often, reconstructive surgery is done immediately after the tumour is removed. Other times, you may have to wait until other cancer treatments, such as chemotherapy or radiation therapy, have finished.

Recovery time for reconstructive surgery depends on the type of surgery.
