The Elite Sports Programme at Sotogrande International School will efficiently prepare your child for the demanding world of university scholarships, and beyond. 


A day and boarding school, Sotogrande International School (SIS) is passionate about leading the charge in educating today’s youth. For ages 11 to 18 years old, the Elite Sports Programme offered at SIS opens a plethora of opportunities for your child. The programme is designed to provide a structured pathway for student-athletes, helping them to achieve the right balance between their chosen discipline and their studies. 

The scholarship applies to the disciplines of golf, polo, tennis, basketball, kitesurf and swimming, and each programme is tailored to the students’ academic timetable, with each student receiving a structured plan that caters to the individual goals they need to meet. 

The programme is aimed at young, talented sportspeople who need structure and guidance in terms of meeting both academic and sporting demands. The end goal of the programme is so that students leave well-prepared in order to take on university scholarships, and beyond. 

Sotogrande International School is excited to announce that it’ll be adding the extreme water sport of kitesurfing to its Elite Sports Programme this coming new academic term in September. 

Kitesurfing is an extreme water sliding sport in which the wind propels a traction kite (kite) attached to your body by means of a harness, so that you ride a board over the waves, also known as wave riding, whilst performing manoeuvres in the air. 

 

Golf

The Golf Programme at SIS attracts young golfers from all over the world for its beautiful environment in the Costa del Sol. The SIS golf scholarship is what prepares student-athletes for demanding college scholarships to universities in America. 

The programme is designed for 16-18-year-old golfers who wish to combine their golf training and education to Golf Scholarships to Universities in America or to join the professional tours after completing their schooling. 

The JFGAs Triple A Golf Programmes ensures that every Triple A Elite student-athlete receives everything they personally need to excel in their golf performance. To do this, it is essential that every Triple A Elite student-athlete completes a full individual assessment in Technical, Physical and Mental Performance.

The JFGA consists of a team of Technical, Physical and Mental Performance coaches, all working together and communicating under one roof, ensuring all aspects of the programme remain in sync with each other throughout the student-athletes time on the programme.

Polo 

The Sotogrande Polo Academy offers a personalised roadmap to students who wish to become professional polo players, providing a system to provide assurance and confidence that their child will benefit from the global opportunities, jobs, lifestyle and network this sport and community have to offer.

The SPA provides training for junior (14-16 years old) and Elite (16-18 years old) Champions for up to four years, with over twenty hours of physical and theoretical polo training provided per week at Polo Valley (andalusian countryside polo resort at 10 min from SIS) alongside a specially designed academic programme at Sotogrande International School. 

Tennis 

The SotoTennis Academy (STA) was launched in 2010 by Dan Kiernan, former British #1 Doubles Player. Since then, it’s gone on to become one of Spain’s most renowned tennis academies. 

The academy’s expert coaches draw up individualised programmes for players, which each player receiving their own lead coach who manages the team around them, ensuring that each player receives the private tuition, sparring, physical programme and sports science support they need in line with goals set.

Swimming 

The SIS Swimming Academy draws on the school’s existing curricular and extra-curricular swimming programme. It offers Learn to Swim and Junior Squad programmes during term-time as well as Intensive Swim Camps throughout the school holidays. In addition, the Swimming Academy offers an extensive training schedule which will provide twice daily sessions up to 6 days a week, with athletes getting to benefit from the top-tier facilities and excellent personal coaching and development, ensuring that athletes reach their full potential. 

Basketball 

The Summit Basketball Academy provides student-athletes with access to high-level advanced basketball instruction, while also best advising them on how to reach their academic targets. 

The main aspect of the Academy’s philosophy is coaching player’s on their personal development, with specially-crafted training programs to help athletes reach peak performance, both mentally and physically. 

Via a vast network of contacts, the Academy has designed a specific roadmap to create opportunities for students beyond secondary education. The programme gives expert advice to those who wish to play at North American College/University (NCAA I/II/III, NAIA, NJCAA, CIS). 


The Junior and Elite Champions programs have been designed with the aim that students can attend tournaments that coincide with school hours. Additional tutoring is also offered for those who have to miss school for competitions.
