Co-Founder and Managing Director of Homerun Brokers Marbella Eric Ebbing gives the inside story of the company’s first exciting year in business, all despite the setbacks from the pandemic.
At the helm of operations is prosperous entrepreneur Eric Ebbing, from Sweden. After having founded one of Sweden’s largest annual music festivals “Big Slap”, he decided to go on to invest in real estate and launched it in 2020 right in the middle of the pandemic outbreak.
As Eric looks back on the company’s first year in business, he reflects on how the pandemic has shown no signs of slowing down the bustling Marbella market. If anything, an upward trend has been felt, as many buyers and sellers are aware of the excellent standard of living that Costa del Sol has to offer.
The Costa del Sol property market is one of the most highly valued areas for property investment. If on the mainland the increase in the value of properties is between 20 and 30% per year, in Marbella this value remains at the highest and sometimes exceeds. 25% of Europeans are thinking of retiring abroad and Southern Spain is among their preferences.
With a dynamic and vibrant team behind him, Eric and the Homerun Brokers are giving the competitive market a run for their money. Despite the obvious risks that the pandemic imposed, the real estate market in Costa del Sol only continued to prosper, and so the dynamic team was able to roll with the punches and has built a successful company amidst a vast sea of competition.
Eric goes on to say that right now, the biggest challenge that the market presents seems to be supply. Currently, the luxury market on the Costa del Sol is experiencing one of the best moments in its history. With Marbella at the forefront, setting up a real estate agency in this area can be a very profitable business, although it is a highly specialised market with no shortage of competition.
Eric mentions that the number of new building permits in the province went up 12% last year, however, it’ll be a while before these are ready for the market. As a result, prices have soared. For example, a two million-euro property is now three million euros, which means that clients will have to raise their budgets if they want to land a decent property in Marbella.
The Homerun Brokers team
Off to a Good Start
Eric is pleased to reveal that the business has seen very positive growth since its inception, and consequently it’s been able to welcome new team members and continue to take on talented individuals.
Apart from providing in-depth knowledge when it comes to local market trends, whether you’re in search of a new permanent resident, holiday home, or investment property, Homerun Brokers has also launched a rental department. Interestingly, a lot of customers that have bought or invested with the company have gone on to also invest.
Homerun Brokers does the leg-work for its clients. By investing in a property to then rent out, you come away with highly profitable margins. Let the professionals find you the right property in your budget, and then not only that, Homerun Brokers will even find the tenants for it.
Overall, the company is very happy with its ongoing expansion and the increase in sales. In 2021, it successfully completed 39 property sales for clients with a total value of more than 100 million euros.
What’s more, in the time it’s been open for business, Homerun Brokers has hosted several padel tournaments with Beyond Padel, has collaborated with Ascari Racing Resort to organise a Homerun racing weekend, and has organised lunches with the top dining hot-spots to complement the brand’s identity.
In addition to this, the company featured in a TV Program focused on Real Estate in Marbella for Bloomberg channel, and it also has an official collaboration with Erik Olsson, one of the top three best real estate agencies in Sweden, which Homerun Brokers represents in Spain.
Plans for the Future
Having built a firm reputation for themselves in such a short space of time, the company is already regarded as a strong player in the real estate industry, which is no easy feat. The company’s plans for the coming years is to maintain its stellar reputation and steady growth, as well as continue to develop its new rental department.
With the growing trend of people working remotely, Homerun Brokers intends to build on that opportunity to improve its “buy to rent” and “buy to sell” operations. It’s safe to say that the future is looking bright, due to the positive indicators that the Marbella market will continue its upward trajectory, and how the company has positioned itself in such a competitive market.
The company is also starting to do more of its own developments and project management services.
About Eric
Like many others hailing from Sweden, Eric was attracted to Costa del Sol for its vibrant lifestyle and high-quality facilities, stunning nature, pristine beaches and spectacular gastronomy.
Eric also started by buying a property in Marbella as a second holiday home by San Pedro Beach, which caused him to fall in love with the weather and lifestyle of Marbella, which is what swayed him to move here permanently.
Eric has also just opened a new Lebanese restaurant in Marbella, called Occo. It’s a newLebanese restaurant which is now the talk of the town, as it’s a hot-spot for influencers on the Marbella dining scene.
