With so much choice available when it comes to eyewear these days, it can be a daunting prospect to select frames that look good, fit well, and flatter your face. That’s why it’s always good when your optician takes the time to offer advice to whittle out the styles that
definitely won’t do for you. Direkt Optik, Moraira has lots of advice on their website, and they will give you honest advice when buying frames to make sure your final choice suits you.
Spain Life Exclusive added our advice to Direkt Optik’s research and knowledge, and between us, we’ve come up with a guide to choosing the right frames to flatter your face, whoever you are – even if you think glasses don’t suit you!
At Direkt Optik, there are more than 900 frames to choose from, in every style and shape you can think of, whether you want trendy designer frames, classic elegance, or quirky ‘Look At Me’ frames to get you noticed and express your personality. And don´t worry, if you like several pairs, there’s still time to take advantage of their excellent Three For One Offer. Pay for one pair of prescription spectacles, and your second is up to the same value free, and your third is also free with single vision lenses, in any non-designer frame.
So, what do you need to consider when choosing your eyewear? After all, they need to be functional as well as fashionable, so pay special attention to:
Your glasses should fit so your pupils are more or less in the middle of the lenses, and the side bars are neither too tight nor too loose at the temples. The frames should sit comfortably on your nose, with no pressure, and be no higher than your eyebrows. Width wise, the frames should be around the same width as your face at the temples, where the side bars meet the frame. Your glasses should not sit on your cheeks either.
Consider the shape of your face when choosing your frames. Vintage round frames may be trending, but they are not a good idea if you have a round face. Luckily, geometric shapes are also in fashion right now, so a square frame will add an illusion of length and look stylish at the same time.
Round frames are best suited to square and elongated face shapes. Try a different look by going for a hexagonal lens. There’s lots of advice on choosing frames to suit your face shape here.
Age and colouring:
Age, skin tone and hair colour all come into play when choosing flattering flames. Cat’s Eye frames give a natural lift to the face, so they make a good choice for less elastic complexions. If your hair is grey, brightly coloured frames will flatter your face. Metal frames also work well with grey hair. Rimless glasses can have an aging effect on the skin, as there is no focal point to lift the features, so leave those to the youngsters.
These days, the rules are not so rigid around choices, so if you really like a particular colour or style, find a way to work around it. If you’re not happy with your choice of eyewear, it will show in your face and in your mood, so don’t rule something out just because it doesn’t fit with the usual rules! The right glasses for you are the ones that feel like part of you, and reflect your personality. Remember that, as you make your choice.
