CATALAN SESSECIONISTS CHALLENGED THE CENTRAL GOVERNMENT

The secessionist parties had modified last minute the plenary session agenda in the Catalan Parliament in order to approve the law that make possible the referendum on the 1st of October

The approval, which contravenes current legislation, was agreed by majoritarian political parties PDCat and CUP while rejected by C’s, PP and PSC in a forceful manner, as they left the plenary, and also by Podemos political group in Cataluña, Catalunya Si que es Pot.

The Spanish government, in the other hand had respond quickly. Vice President Soraya Sáenz de Santamaría said she was ashamed of what had happened at the Catalan Parliament, and the executive has already asked the TC to invalidate the implementation of the law and all acts that stem from it, among other measures.  Moncloa, ensured that the law will not be violated.
