Over 20,000 people enjoyed the DNA Festival Dénia this past weekend where local Michelin-star restaurants took part as participants.
This last weekend over the days of October 1st and 2nd, the fifth edition of the D*NA Food Festival in Denia was celebrated, turning out to be another raving success. This gastronomic festival is held by the Dénia Town Council and Turisme Comunitat Valenciana, and with the renowned chef Quique Dacosta as gastronomic commissioner.
D*Nna Festival Dénia reaffirms itself as the appointment par excellence of Mediterranean gastronomy. An exclusive event that brings together the best professionals from the gastronomy and catering sector of the Valencia Region, with the aim of highlighting the gastronomic culture and the excellence of the products and gastronomic projects of this region, promoting the interaction of the public with gastronomy.
Over this weekend there are talks, workshops and presentations with the participation of around 30 chefs, including some of the Michelin star constellations, with the festival’s main aim to bring haute cuisine closer to the general public.
One of the restaurants that took part was the Michelin star and two-time Repsol Sun winner restaurant in Ondara, Casa Pepa. Their chef Aina Serra represented Casa Pepa, and gave a stimulating talk on the Saturday about the work, philosophy and way of understanding gastronomy at Casa Pepa.
In addition, the team from the restaurant prepared two different tapas for the public to savour: spiced duck breast blanquet, seasonal mushrooms and duck escabeche with Novelda saffron, along with marinated red mullet and a veil of vine shoot roasted peppers lacquered in their sea juice.
Chef Aina Serra
Chef Aina is passionate about gastronomy and since she joined Casa Pepa she has always been innovating and searching for perfection in every dish until everyone is pleased.
Casa Pepa in Ondara, the latest addition under the name of BonAmb, draws on the essence of the Marina Alta as its main source of inspiration, the establishment has proven to be an emblematic restaurant in the Alicante province, and for us at Spain Life, it sticks out in our minds as traditional, home-made staple food.
Casa Pepa was proud to take the stage along with other award-winning chefs, accompanied by around twenty artisans, restaurateurs and producers from the Marina Alta showing their products and elaborations, as well as giving fascinating workshops on different culinary themes.
Quique Dacosta who oversaw the smooth-running of events said “this edition of DNA has managed to turn this kilometre-long walk into an opportunity for the artisan, the producer, the processor and the local chefs to talk to each other in the first person. A meeting where all of them have shared the limelight on the same level as the haute cuisine chefs, because they are also stars in their own right”.
Reserve your table to experience the lightness of Casa Pepa’s Mediterranean dishes, the flavour of traditional market cuisine, and the freshness of the staple seasonal products.
