Art 9 Gallery: Moraira’s Pure Art And Design

Today we want to take you into the realms of the arts in the Costa Blanca and we have come across one of the most exciting and innovative galleries situated in Moraira.

Bert Wets and Karolien Van Dael founded Art 9 Gallery eight years ago as a result of their passion and love for the art. Bert is a multifaceted, hard-working, and creative man who in addition to running his restaurant business in Moraira (Le DauphinVespas) and his own brand of gin (QR Gin) decided to enter the world of art.

So today after speaking with Bert we want to show you some of their pieces in this article so you can see how talented  Bert and his sculptors and artists are at what they do.

The gallery

It is a modishly furnished gallery that has a cozy ambiance to make all their guests feel at ease the minute they enter and their goal is to make visitors feel comfortable enough to admire the art on display with no time limits.

Sculptures are readily available in wood, metal, iron, and stone and these can be seen amongst other paintings and pottery.

Bert and Karolien each have their own pieces on exhibit at the gallery, along with an eclectic mix of artists from both the local region and throughout the world. They have around fifteen artists always on show in the gallery.

At Art 9 Gallery you will also find the work of the Internationally renowned Spanish duo, Joan Coderch and Javier Malavia, known as Coderch and Malavia who started their artistic journey together in 2015.

These outstanding figurative artists received in 2017 the Painting and Sculpture Prize awarded by Queen Sofia that bears his name and is celebrated to distinguish the creativity of great Spanish artists.

Last Saturday there was a special event that took place in which this beautiful metal sculpture called “Gigante de Sal” of three meters high and six meters long was placed in Moraira as it was previously seen in the marina In Valencia so you may have come across it before as it is a unique work of art.

This amazing sculpture was created by Coderch and Malavia and Bert in conjunction with Toni Marí, the internationally-renowned metal sculptor, it means the rebirth of us after the corona lockdown representing that we all are strong and will survive.

He has also designed and made a new LOVE MORAIRA sign which is going to be lit up soon so look out for this on the esplanade near the beach and we will keep you updated on all the new additions as Bert has great ideas to not only promote his art but to also help the area of Moraira and other towns and it was his idea to support Moraira with these new sculptures which were endorsed by the town hall.

The work on display in the gallery changes regularly and there is always something new to view, so feel free to pay a visit to Art 9 Gallery in Moraira and take in the ambience of exquisite design and art and if you see iron and other sculptures in the towns around the Costa Blanca you can be sure they have been made by Art 9 Gallery as they are always being innovative and are full of great ideas.
