Founded in 1985, the restaurant is innovatively split into two distinct sections: the fine-dining section “Celeste” at the back, and then the more casual, walk-in section “Don Carlos” offering tapas in the front.
The restaurant’s inception naturally arose from a love of sports, being together as a family at the table, and simply enjoying the time spent in the company of loved ones. For the last four years, the fine dining section has maintained its Michelin Guide reference, recommended by the illustrious guide for its commitment to wholesome, delicious food and stellar service.
With an experienced chef at the helm of the kitchen, the food at Celeste y Don Carlos is literally made to cater to the client. Here, there is no particular “menu” on display. So how does it work? At this restaurant, Chef Jorge Jurado takes note of the dietary needs of each individual customer, and then he draws up a creative menu in each section catered to the diner.
The main aim is to make diners feel relaxed and completely at ease. Jorge is a chef with vast culinary experience, having spent time living and working abroad in culinary staples such as The Dorchester and Claridges in London, The Ritz and The Crillon Paris, Sofitel in Shanghai, Hotel Horizon in Jersey, as well as Sidi San Juan in Alicante.
Expect Mediterranean-style gourmet dishes and attentive service located in the centre of Alicante, run by chef Jorge Jurado. A chef with great culinary experience, he always manages to give a personal and charming touch to each of his dishes.
The fine-dining section of the restaurant has been recommended in the Michelin Guide and Conde Travellers. The price is quite affordable, considering that it is haute cuisine, and with each meal coming with a specially selected wine pairing,

Chef Jorge serves creative tasting menus that change periodically. The dishes are always a surprise for the diner who, when making a reservation, only has to indicate any allergies, intolerances or special needs.
Working alone in the kitchen, his style is relaxed and peculiar, is marked by his years in France, where he worked in great kitchens such as the Ritz Hotel in Paris. In the fine-dining section, diners can enjoy looking on as their meals are prepared by Jorge, which is in the typical fashion of Michelin-calibre restaurants.
Chef Jorge clearly draws inspiration from his years spent abroad, as his impromptu menu features gourmet Mediterranean dishes, as well as splashes of Asian fusion.
A small and cosy space, the restaurant is also ideal for intimate events, such as small weddings and other types of social gatherings. There are two car parks nearby, as well as the tram service for those planning a trip out to the restaurant.
As capacity is limited, it’s essential to call ahead for a booking. Not for those who wish to have a quick bite, the experience is based on coming to enjoy a leisurely occasion amongst close friends and family. The fine-dining section can be privatised for such occasions upon prior request.
