What was once just land in “Les Marines” growing watermelons and “muscatel” grapes, fifty years later has become one of the most popular hotels in Dénia.
Situated right on the doorstep of one of Costa Blanca’s sandy beaches, is the Noguera Mar
The origin of the business goes back to the inheritance from Juanito Noguera’s parents Pep and Tona, which was just land and a small house by the sea. Now the hotel is being run by the third generation of the family, and after its renovation in 2005, has become a popular choice of accommodation for Spaniards and international tourists.
It all began in the sixties when a sea plant called the Posidonia Meadow (which received its name from Poseidon: “Queen of the Seas”) extended along the beach at the front of the property, and started attracting different varieties of marine life, and therefore, fishermen.
The house from then on, was regularly used as a stop-off point for fishermen, and Juanito and his wife, Rosa, would entertain and serve them Cazallas (local liquor), octopus tapas and the popular Spanish meal: bread with olive oil. Their cuisine became so popular among the guests, that they decided to turn their small house into a restaurant, which today is known as the Noguera Mar restaurant.
Soon, tourists started arriving to the area too, for sunny, beach holidays, and the Noguera family also opened their home to accommodate guests. From that point onwards, the family’s business grew, to today become the successful 3* Hotel.
One of the hotel’s star features would its “Escape” packages. You can choose from Romantic, Gastronomic or Adventure breaks, which all include a special arrangement for that theme, such as; romantic dinners or horse riding along the shore.
The Noguera Mar hotel, just a short drive from Dénia city, offers luxury accommodation, with direct access to the beach and picturesque views to the bay from some of the rooms.
The Noguera restaurant has, to this day, kept its tradition, and serves the seafood cuisine inspired by the first-generation’s cooking. Here, you can enjoy evening meals of fresh, locally-caught seafood, as well as other speciality grilled dishes. You’ll have the option of a selection of wines to go with the meal, and some local wines are even included free with the “Gastronomic” package deal.
The hotel offers a relaxing and unique stay in Spain. With all that you could need for a sunny getaway right on your doorstep, the Noguera Mar is a definite choice for your stay in the Costa Blanca.
