At British Schools Alzira, Xàtiva and Gandia Group the canteen acts as recipe for the school to turn the dining room into an authentic educational classroom.

The daily menu promotes a rich, healthy and sustainable diet. All students, meaning 625 in British School Alzira, 300 in British School Xàtiva and 150 in British School Gandia, eat in the dining room of the Centre. They are served the Mediterranean diet that is cooked daily in the kitchen of the school, and the lunch includes carefully chosen fresh products from the local markets, seasonal vegetables and fruit, all types of cereals, fish and ecological products.

The management of the dining room is carried out in collaboration with the company Eurest, specialist in management of collective dining rooms. The menu of British Schools Alzira, Xàtiva and Gandia is made and agreed monthly with them, and is cooked at each of the 3 Schools by the staff themselves. Different and especially adapted types of menu are offered in addition to the general one, such as dishes for astringent diets, for overweight, allergic, diabetic or celiac pupils.

Begoña Rodrigo is the person in charge to design the menus and bring attractive new recipes, inspired from local dishes and international ones as well. She is also the organizer of workshops and thematic live chats with children and parents having the food as central theme. And Martin Goldman Srour, the Executive Chef at British Schools, elaborates recipes taking into account the latest gastronomic tendencies. With experience in the high level kitchens of Arzak, Akelarre, Urepel or Rekondo, he focuses upon creating the Gastronomic Days as well.

On the Gastronomic Day organised monthly at each of the British Schools Alzira, Xàtiva and Gandia, students and teachers as well receive special information on a chosen theme such as the organic food, the cereals or the vegetables. Special training sessions for parents are being prepared as well.
