The Fallas of Valencia

From March 15th to March 19th, the people of Valencia  light up the city to celebrate the coming of Spring. The streets fill up with joy and the hustle and bustle of the Fallas festival, the upmost expression of the merger of tradition, satire and art. The celebration begins on the night of the 15th, where artists work all night to erect large sculptures that will fill the streets and compete for a winning prize. Once a winner is chosen, the artworks are paraded through the city until the last day of the festival in which all of the sculptures go up in flames.
